Intralesional Injection

What is the treatment?

Intralesional injection is a procedure where targeted medicine, most commonly a type of steroid medication, is injected directly into a stubborn or inflamed skin lesion. This method allows for a high concentration of the drug to reach the exact area that needs treatment, which reduces inflammation, shrinks abnormal tissue growth, and flattens thick or raised lesions. The medication stays localized, which minimizes side effects that might occur if the medicine were taken by mouth.

Who is it for?

This treatment is for people who have specific skin conditions such as keloids (large, thick, raised scars that grow beyond the original wound boundaries), thick scars (like hypertrophic scars), and various persistent inflammatory lesions (such as deep acne cysts, certain forms of alopecia areata, or stubborn nodules)
